Uncontested Divorce in Oregon

Uncontested divorce in Oregon

Most people would like to have an amicable divorce. The goal is always to be able to talk through the details with your spouse or significant other, and come to a peaceful agreement. When you can manage this, your divorce in Oregon can be done with some simple paperwork, which I refer to as an uncontested divorce.  Here are a few things to consider when talking about an uncontested divorce in Oregon.

“During the early stages of a divorce, emotions tend to run high, so having the right attitude can be crucial to maintaining an amicable divorce.”

First, if you want to have an uncontested divorce, you will want to start out by being on your best behavior.  During the early stages of a divorce, emotions tend to run high, so having the right attitude can be crucial to maintaining an amicable divorce. Be very careful not to insult, demean, or otherwise try and bully your significant other into a deal, that is more likely to just result in more anger and less desire to work together.

We recognize sometimes the other person acts poorly towards you, but if you want to have an uncontested divorce in Oregon it is important to do what you can to minimize the confrontation. If you feel you are unable to come to compromises your divorce attorney can help you navigate how these waters or it is possible another route for a non-court solution  maybe better suited for your case.

Second, seek out a lawyer who focuses on uncontested divorces. If you hire a lawyer focused on a quick resolution to your case, then they will have more experience helping you resolve your matter with minimal distractions or disruptions.

If you think your case can successfully be uncontested, then you will want to speak with a lawyer to help you navigate the paperwork.  While it’s true that once you reach an agreement, all that is left to do is to file the proper paperwork, it can be an absolute nightmare to try and navigate the legal maze on your own. For more details about the value of hiring a family law attorney see our article about the Top Reasons to Hire a Divorce Attorney.

If you are feeling overwhelmed with the paperwork, it is likely a quick meeting with an experienced Oregon divorce attorney can help resolve the confusion quickly, letting you finish your uncontested divorce as fast as possible. There are also many other benefits of using a lawyer to help navigate the paperwork as we addressed more in depth in the article 5 Reason to Hire an Attorney rather than do your own divorce or custody paperwork.
