Adoption

Adding to your family

Guiding You Through the Adoption Process

Adopting a child can be a wonderful experience – or it can be a stressful process filled with pitfalls and legal red tape. Adoption laws and procedures can be confusing and if a mistake is made at any part of the process, it can mean lengthy delays.

At Brasier Law we are dedicated to making the adoption process as affordable and hassle-free as possible. Call 503-855-4777 or contact us online to schedule a free phone consultation to discuss your situation.

Preventing Problems with the Adoption

We represent stepparents, grandparents, and same sex couples in adoption. There are many steps we must take to ensure that the adoption is completed as smoothly as possible, including:

  • Explain adoption laws as they apply to your situation.
  • Ensure that the child meets Oregon’s requirements to be adopted.
  • Notify everyone with an interest in the child of the intent to adopt.
  • Have home study completed by DHS or ask for waiver.
  • Complete adoption paperwork properly.

Without an attorney, it is easy to make minor mistakes at each step of the process. Unfortunately, it usually means you will need to start over if that happens. We will make sure that everything is done properly the first time around to speed up the process.
