Father’s Rights and Paternity

Many fathers facing custody and support matters do not understand that, if paternity is proven, they are entitled to just as many rights as the mother. Legally, there are no special rights or preferences for mothers. This is only the case, however, if paternity has been established.

Oregon Paternity Lawyer — Representing Fathers in Paternity and Child Custody

At Brasier Law, LLC, we will walk you through the process of proving that you are your child’s father, as well as legally gaining the rights you are entitled to.

The mother does not have to consent for paternity to be established. We can easily force the issue, putting forth the necessary orders for tests and documentation that will prove this. Our attorneys will help to gain the paternity tests needed.

Once paternity has been established, we will solidify your rights as the father, entering into a viable parenting plan. Our law firm will handle these matters in the most efficient manner possible, saving you time, money and stress as you seek to gain child custody of your children.

Portland Fathers’ Rights Lawyer

Once you have been proven to be the father, you will be required to pay child support, but you will also be provided parenting time that you might not otherwise have been allowed.

The judge will base parenting time decisions on a baseline of what the child is used to. It is important to begin establishing parenting time as soon as possible to prove the role you play in your child’s life. The longer you wait to establish a routine with your children, the harder it will be to achieve more time later.

It is important that you spend consistent time, documenting each visit and contact. This will be considered by the judge in the creation of parenting time orders, as well as potential modifications in the future.
